So, one of my least favourite types of photography was the theme for the whole month: food.  I don’t know what it is about Food photography but it leaves me cold.  So, I’m trying to be positive and take good photos, but there may be some less than apetizing food photos.

So we shall see what the month brings.

1st April – On my Plate

So, it was a busy day at work, and I had taken my own lunch in so was eating from a tupperware container.  So really what was on my plate was earning my daily bread.

2nd April – A vegetable

A pea.

You want A vegetable, you get A vegetable…

3rd April – A fruit

A fruit… or is it? A piece of marzipan disguised as a piece of fruit.

4th April – Breakfast

I hate these meal time prompts: I feel like I am reminded that I don’t vary my meals much.  Muesli is my weekday breakfast and there’s only so many ways of making it look interesting.

5th April – Lunch

Like breakfast, during the week I don’t have the most varied lunch (especially after the pandemic) and I have home made frittata with home made coleslaw, raw carrots, tomatoes (in season) and leafy salad.  So trying to find ways of making it interesting is getting harder.

6th April – Dinner

Completing the series of three meals: risotto made with the remains of the roast pork we had at the weekend.

7th April – Raw

Eggs, waiting to become a frittata.

8th April – Cooked

The frittata that the eggs ended up becoming.

9th April – In my pantry

Or at least a view into the herb and spices section of my cupboards. Some said it is quite organised to have them labelled… however that is only one labelled by me the others come labelled like that.

10th April – Dessert

Blackberry and Apple Crumble, with custard*

*Birds custard, has to be birds custard.

11th April – A green food

Green broccoli with a hint of purple.

12th April – Snack

I went to the Wetlands today, so had a pain au chocolat with my coffee, and it was lovely.

13th April – A Fave recipe

I really wasn’t in a food photo mood today, and this book contains many favourite recipes.  It’s a book of Christmas stuff, so not really the time to make anything from it.

14th April – Ingredient

Tomato puree.  Get used to boost the tomato flavour in many dishes.

15th April – Kitchen

The kitchen looking tidy, for about 10 seconds.

16th April – 2 things

Ice and a slice… or gin and tonic…

A couple of 2 things that go together.

17th April – A drink

A drink to make me human in the mornings.

18th April –  A white food

A humble white onion.

19th April – Healthy

Raw carrot, part of my typical lunch.

20th April – Indulgent

Chocolate mousse, an indulgent finish to the meal which I only just remembered to photograph.

21st April – A red food

Humble tomato

22nd April – Savoury

Savoury pastries quickly snapped at the coffee shop as I got my morning coffee… I didn’t buy one as I went for a sweet one instead.

Totally amazed that this quick snap was then chosen as one of the Fab Four for this day.  Even more amazing I got a Fab photo for Food.

23rd April – Sweet

The sweet pastry I did buy at the coffee shop…

24th April – In my cup

Coffee, naturally.

25th April – On my fork

A chip, from my Saturday night’s takeaway.

26th April – Yuk!

I really don’t like fish… I keep trying it as it can sound so nice on the menu, but only a taste of other people’s dishes.

I also really dislike cooked carrots (although I love them raw), cooked swede/turnip/parsnips; also pumpkins, squashes and sweet potato.

Other than that, I’m not that fussy.

Oh, these cans are so my SO can get his fish fix for lunch or when I’m away on courses.

27th April – I eat here!

Yep, in front of the TV.  How else am I going to catch up on my Netflix shows…?

28th April – This is delicious

My homemade Hot Cross Buns, which I make on Good Friday each year, were delicious.

I use the Paul Hollywood recipe, and really don’t want to go anywhere near him with my creations.  They are a faff to make, which is why they’re only something I make when I have the time.

29th April – Utensil

A sieve or two hanging up in my kitchen.

30th April – In my bowl

Stewed rhubarb (with orange and ginger) and ice cream.

So that’s it for this month.  Absolutely delighted to have completed another Food Month.  And still amazed that I was nominated for a Fab Four,.   There will be more photos on my Instagram feed as we head into May.

So thank you for looking through this series of photos.
